Pasado Cafe in Mangwon, Seoul: Prices and an Honest Review

Pasado is a gallery cafe in Mangwon, Seoul, with a good-looking drinks menu and a practical catch: steep stairs. We found seats straight away and stayed for about an hour, but carrying drinks between floors was the part that stayed with me.

If you are deciding whether to add it to your Seoul cafe itinerary, here is what we ordered, what it cost and what I would want to know before going.

Independent visit; this post is not sponsored. Prices and on-site observations below are from September 2026.

Finding Pasado in Mangwon

Look for the lowercase pasado sign on the brick frontage. The standing sign at the entrance says “Coffee / Gallery,” which is a useful clue that this is more than a standard coffee counter.

For navigation, copy 파사도 망원 or the Korean address above into your map app. Public parking is available within about a five-minute walk, based on our visit. This is nearby public parking rather than a dedicated cafe parking space.

What we ordered and how to read the prices

We ordered one Deep chocolate (딥초코) and one Deep matcha (딥말차). Both cost KRW 6,500. On the menu, the price appears as “6.5”: here that means 6,500 Korean won.

The chocolate drink arrived with chocolate shavings on top; the matcha drink had distinct green and white layers. These are the two drinks shown in our photo, so you can match the English menu names to the actual order.

The menu we saw also listed Greek yogurt options, tea and fruit ades. The English names and drink photographs make it possible to point to an item if you are not comfortable reading Korean.

A poster outside advertised a separate signature combination of Einspanner, financier and Lotus Biscoff. We did not order that, so it is a menu option to notice rather than something I can personally recommend.

The books and gallery side of the cafe

A wooden display held copies of the Korean book 구원에게 against a textured wall. It was a small detail, but one that connected the “gallery” wording at the entrance with what was actually inside.

The official page describes Pasado as a gallery cafe run by publisher Bookrum, bringing books, photography, exhibitions and coffee together. Check its current exhibition information if that side of the space is your main reason for visiting.

The stairs are worth knowing about

This was my main reservation. The stairs felt steep, and moving up or down with drinks in hand felt awkward and risky to me. Getting a seat immediately did not remove that inconvenience once the drinks were ready.

The restroom was on the rooftop level and looked inconvenient to reach. If stairs are difficult for you, or you are visiting with a stroller or heavy luggage, ask the cafe about the current access arrangements before committing to a visit. I would not plan around an assumption of step-free access.

The detail I would check before choosing a table is the route back with a tray of drinks.

Would I go back?

Personally, I do not plan to return. The gallery-and-books setting has its appeal, but the stairs and restroom route mattered more to me than the look of the space.

If you are already exploring Mangwon and enjoy bookish cafe interiors, the photos and menu should help you judge whether it fits your afternoon. For someone who prioritizes easy movement between their seat, the counter and the restroom, I would keep looking.
