Alex Luca in Gangnam, Seoul: Ragu Pasta and a Date-Night Setting

The pasta is what I would point you toward at Alex Luca in Gangnam, Seoul. I visited for a friend's pre-wedding get-together, and the ragu pasta was my favorite dish of the meal.
The setting makes sense for that kind of occasion: hanging greenery, woven pendant lights, and dark booth seating give it a dressed-up feel. If you are looking for a sit-down meal around Gangnam Station, this is one to consider for a date or a meal with friends.

A setting for a date or a small gathering

Our occasion was a cheongcheopjang moim (청첩장 모임), a get-together with a friend who was getting married. That is the context in which I tried Alex Luca: a meal with friends, rather than a solo stop between sightseeing plans.
To me, the room had a date-night feel, and several nearby tables seemed to be there for dates. The booths and small tables also give you a clearer sense of the setting than the word “brunch” alone would.

The ragu pasta was my pick

The dish is listed as Ragu Pasta (라구 파스타). It is the wide, flat pasta with a meat sauce in the photos; the restaurant's menu describes it as a slowly cooked meat ragu.
Of the dishes we had, this was the one I liked most. If you want one recommendation from my visit, make it this pasta. The decor may be the first thing you notice, but this was the dish that stood out for me.
Other dishes on our table
We also had smoked salmon salad, the Alex Burger, grilled octopus, and abalone risotto. These are the Korean menu names to look for if you are matching the dishes to a menu:
- Smoked Salmon Salad — 스모크 연어 샐러드
- Alex Burger — 알렉스 버거
- Polpo Steak (grilled octopus) — 뽈뽀 스테이크(문어)
- Abalone Risotto — 전복 리조또

My verdict
I did not have a particular complaint about this visit. For someone deciding on a date spot or a meal with friends near Gangnam Station, Alex Luca is worth considering for its setting and range of dishes.
My clearest recommendation is the ragu pasta. That is the dish I would start with when choosing from the menu.
